Crafts and Woodwork
Creating their outdoor masterpieces
Our Woodlands create the perfect environment to create with natural materials surrounding us. we have whittled wands, fairy wings, swords and bow and arrows.
We have used clay for birds nests, baskets, clay faces, hedgehogs and anything else the children have come up with.
We have used willow branches and ivy to create wreaths and hearts and star hangers.
We have used logs to make mallets, reindeer, bowls and stools.
We have painted, made slime, potions, mud pies and mud cakes.
The children have an opportunity to use different tools to drill, carve, cut, file and saw. They learn about coppicing trees and keeping enough left to allow it to keep growing and to keep the woodland healthy. They have endless fun getting muddy and dirty and using their fine motor skills to create a masterpiece.
